The Black Lion dates from 1664 and many original features remain including exposed beams, open brickwork, wattle and daub walls, and wooden and stone floors. There are three separate areas downstairs with open fires in the front bar and rear snug. There is also a small dining area upstairs. There is paved area at the side of the pub which has its own serving hatch to the bar. High quality food is served Thursday to Sunday. Six cask beers are served from different bars with the full list displayed above each bar. Tables can be reserved for drinkers as well as diners and booking is recommended at busier times.
