Large modern pub on the southern edge of the town. Cask ale was introduced in December 2025. There is a lounge area with a snug and a separate bar with a pool table and dart board. Six televisions throughout the pub show live sports including Sky broadcasts. The Turnpike hosts occasional live music and there is a disco and karaoke on Saturday evenings plus a quiz on Sunday evenings. The lounge can be hired for functions and has a capacity of 100. The pub has a large outdoor drinking area at the front with a covered smoking area. The adjacent bus stop is served by two bus routes (37 and 42) and the pub sits between its own large car park and a small shopping area with takeaway outlets and a convenience store.
