Small, friendly, traditional two-roomed corner pub selling reasonably priced beers. Corner pubs such as this were once common in the town but, with many now sadly closed, the Earl of Chester remains as one of only a few surviving examples. Televisions throughout show a variety of sporting events and the pub hosts darts, dominoes, and pool teams as well as having regular quiz, bingo, and karaoke evenings. The front bar is less busy and quieter than the main lounge/bar area. Both the front bar and the pool room, located off the main lounge/bar area, can be used for functions. There is regular live music and the main bar area is decorated to reflect the landlady's love of classic rock music.
